Bio

Juan is a postdoctoral researcher within the Department of Geography at San Diego State University. Juan received his MSc in Economics and Management from Pompeu Fabra University (Spain) and his PhD in Management from University of Barcelona (Spain). He is also a member of the AQR Group (Regional Quantitative Analysis), which is integrated in the Department of Econometrics, Statistics and Spanish Economy at the University of Barcelona and as a research unit in the Barcelona Science Park (PCB). Juan's research has been primarily focused on the formulation of optimization and heuristic models for designing analytical regions. His main interests are to use these models for providing a better understanding of the MAUP effects and to explore new concepts on spatial econometrics. Juan has participated in a wide variety of research contracts for institutions such as The Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center, The Department of Defense, The European Commission, Ajuntament de Barcelona, Generalitat de Catalunya, Ministerio de Educación y Cultura (Spain).
